Description

Motor neurone disease is a group of neurological disorders marked by the deterioration of nerve signals between the spinal cord and the brain. It impairs muscle movements, and patients often show emotional disturbances and behavioral changes. Depending on the involvement of neurons and their subsequent effects, four different Motor Neurone Disease types have been classified:
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS): The most common motor neuron disease, affecting all neurons and causing muscle stiffness, weakness, spasms, etc., gradually progressing to impact the ability to talk, eat, and even breathe.
Progressive Bulbar Palsy: It differs from ALS by originating from a different region and influencing speech and swallowing. It only results in muscle weakness without severely impacting limbs.
